The former CEO of both Aegis Media and Mediaedge:cia worldwide, Mainardo brings with him a wealth of proven experience and an entrepreneurial spirit.

INSPIRING IDEAS
For 30 years Mainardo has approached client relationships with the same passion and commitment since his 1st experience at Y&R Milan. A constant visionary, Mainardo was also a co-founder of one of Italy’s ‘third wave’ ad agencies before moving from advertising to media communications to co-found Medianetwork, Italy’s first media independent, and later a European network of local media independents dedicated to breaking new ground. His inspiration ensures similar dedication among OMD’s 8,500 talented professionals across cultures and disciplines.

SUSTAINABLE RESULTS
Under his tenure, OMD has twice been named Global Media Agency of the Year by Adweek and recognized as the world’s most creative media agency for an unprecedented 6th time by The Gunn Report. RECMA also ranked OMD as number one globally. An internationally recognized thought leader in media innovation, Mainardo presided over the Cannes Festival’s Media Lions Jury in 2012. Mainardo sits on the Boards of Omnicom Media Group and of the Ad Council: he resides in NY and London with his family.

mainardodenardis As the Cristal Festival returns to France for the first time in four years, I think it is appropriate to borrow the words of the great French philosopher Voltaire to describe the unique opportunity this event offers to the international marketing and media community:

“Is there any man so wise as to learn from the experience of another?”

Learning from the experience of another – that is the essence of Cristal. Far beyond the awards competition, Cristal is first and foremost an extraordinary learning experience, taught by some of the most creative and innovative minds in our industry.

Indeed, only need look at the program cover – with its bold promise of “an international summit of media and advertising” – to confirm that advancing the art and science of engagement is the primary mission of this festival .

And it is in that spirit that I am proud to serve as the president of the 2013 Cristal Media Jury, not simply to award the best ideas and thinking, but to help support our collective opportunity to learn from them as well.
